There is a lot of concern the it could turn into a live event. There is a history of such drills going live (09/11/01 - NY&DC + 07/07/05 London Tube). S The message to City Council is so hard-hitting, concise and spark-under-the-ass hot that it should move these do-nothing commissioners to get off their asses!! I have heard that Sam Adams is going to run for Mayor...wouldn't that be a feather in his cap if he showed some leadership and true concern for the city of Portland by demanding transparency on these terror drills?!?!?! This eve, handing out flyers about the terrorism drills, I offered one to a woman who replied, as she walked by, "I am with the County...I know all about the drills." Unflummoxed, I called after her, "Do you have a ballpark date for Noble Resolve?" She said, over her shoulder, something about not being able to tell people, mixed in with they don't know exact dates... I think anyone who works with the city, county, or state governments, who has a conscience and some sense of duty to their fellow Portlanders, should speak now and tell people what they know. Have you tried to contact the staff about it? I have real problems with IndyMedia, and that is why, at the meeting, I said I was not going to post the letter there...[expletive]..they are not a real medium for communication in the Portland community, and they should be boycotted for events, opinions of real activism. Unless it bows to the Black Bloc type of radicalism, they don't treat it fairly, I don't think. Interested in your opinion. I called Woodard and left a message about maybe joining us downtown tonight, but she didn't show, and I have not heard back. Let you know when I do. Saw Glen and he thought my explanation to you was good about the fissure in the group and plans to move on. Steve

I'll forward a very interesting bit of research she's come up with on the GHOST TROOPS, Don't know what to think of PIM. They posted the listing in the main part of the page when I sent it to them through the "contact" interface - I didn't know if they'd do it so I self-published it too - don't know why this issue isn't more engaging - seems environment and immigration issues are their main focus - could be that that's what the web managers' friends are into. Has Mel tried to get this into a serious KBOO program - maybe these GHOST TROOPS could be interviewed -- jtg

Hey Thom, I was calling to alert people to the Terrorism Drills that are going to be held in August and October, and to note that we are asking DeFazio to endorse a Citizens' Oversight Committee, in light of the secrecy he is confronting with DHS.
