Folks,
As the National Impeachment Network coordinator for the South Side DFA and the PDX chapter of We the People National Coalition for Impeachment, I'm passing along a message below the line that just came from NIN coordinator Diane Lawrence (Miami).
On Nov 19, 2008, at 7:07 PM, NIN Coordinator Diane Lawrence (Miami) wrote:
NIN Coordinator Susan Serpa (Boston), who at this moment is driving back to Boston from D.C., reports that Wexler has no intention of keeping his word on impeachment. I am sure that Conyers will disappoint us (although we were more prepared for this). They are not keeping their word about starting impeachment after the election. I analyze it this way:
The Obama people do not want to make the Bush Crime Family accountable for their murders and torture; they would rather promote a friendly bipartisan atmosphere so as to get their “change” show on the road; they don’t want to get bogged down in enforcing Constitutional provisions;
- Wexler was Florida State Chairman of the Obama campaign from the very beginning, so he’s not about to rock the boat;
- Perhaps Wexler is expecting an important committee chairmanship from Nancy Pelosi;
- Pelosi was complicit in the crime of torture because she was shown the harsh interrogation techniques, along with some other members of Congress, in September 2002 and she did nothing. Maybe that’s why she took impeachment off the table;
- Cong. Kucinich has shown no move toward continuing his impeachment efforts, so Wexler would have been the Lone Ranger.
I am in awe of many of you NIN members who have put forth so much effort over the past two years to preserve our Constitution. We were trying to keep future administrations from doing as they please without oversight by Congress. In particular, I want to thank Susan Serpa for making the long journey for a 15-minute disappointing interview with Congressman Wexler today. South Florida Impeachment Coalition is paying for some of her trip expenses.
